The Misguided Marketer
They are out there… The Misguided Marketers… and boy did we come across their path when we met a business who listened to them!!
Whilst visiting with a new business contact the discussion soon moved to marketing and what this business had been doing to market themselves, we enquired about their most recent efforts and what success they’d had.
They started by telling us that marketing was a waste of money and that they had recently employed the services of a direct marketing agency – in doing so had proved this theory right!
This agency developed a marketing campaign for the business; this was basically sending letters to local businesses explaining the services of our new contact, alas the campaign failed. By all accounts not even one response!
Obviously, the content of the material may have been an influencing factor as to why there were no responses but what amazed us was that nobody had followed up the campaign by telephoning the prospective clients.
In matter of fact – GET THIS – the direct marketing agency advised against it!!!
We pointed out to the client that his view on marketing was quite interesting as we too had used direct mail and in matter of fact, that’s how we had found him. The only difference was we had picked up the phone and followed up each letter, achieving the goal of getting appointments.
We had simply followed point 3 of Dynamic Way 4 from the 10 Dynamic Ways to More Clients, which you can find at our main website, for free, under resources.
So what were our results? 16% of clients who received our letter booked an appointment, now that’s a results!
